Tenth grade students will be taking the PSAT during the school day on Wednesday, October 11th. Due to testing, CHS will be on an alternate bell schedule. Dual Enrollment & Work-Based Learning students should pay close attention to class start times so they are not tardy to class.

2023 Safe Driving Summit
Tuesday, October 10
9th - 11th Graders

CHS will be transporting students to attend the 2023 Safe Driving Summit for students to hear about the dangers of distracted, impaired and unsafe driving while learning about the tools that can help all drivers prioritize safety behind the wheel. There are a limited number of spots. In order to save your spot, there are 4 requirements due by Friday, September 22.
1- Be in good academic standing - passing all classes.
2- Return your permission form signed by a parent/guardian and every teacher to Student Services. Permission slips are being handed out in 4th block today.
3- Submit the Waiver LINK (https://forms.gle/w1tVYNW2BsFXwd8Q9) for the Lutzie 43 Foundation and Georgia Department of Transportation to take video/photos of the event.
4- Submit the Pre Survey. (https://forms.gle/mv8LPvz9iaQ7oJem8) This survey serves as a tool to better understand the current knowledge of safe driving for the students in attendance.
CHS Drama is proud to announce that we will be competing in this year’s Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards also known as “The Shuler Awards!” This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and we are so proud of them. Stay tuned for our competition date as the students will present Little Shop of Horrors for the judges. You won’t want to miss out on all the excitement!

This Friday, September 8th is the final day of coverage for those students still under free or reduced eligibility from last school year. Beginning Monday September 11th, those students who were the beneficiaries of free and reduced price meals from the 22/23 school year will begin being charged full price for breakfasts and lunches served at school unless a new application is received, processed and the family qualifies. Good afternoon. Our schools will be conducting lockdown drills this week. Please do not be alarmed if you hear that one of our schools has gone into a Level III lockdown. There will be additional law enforcement officers and vehicles at the schools this week for the drills. Please talk with your students about the drill so they understand that the drill is another way to keep everyone as safe as possible. Thanks for your help.

Hat Day Friday, August 11th!
Sophomores will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 11th. 9th & 11th graders can opt to take the PSAT for an $18 fee. Email jordan.raettig@commercecityschools.org if you would like for your 9th or 11th grader to test. The deadline to opt into testing is Friday, August 25th.
REMINDER OF CHS TARDY POLICY: A student is tardy to school if he/she enters a class after the tardy bell has finished ringing. Parents/guardians will be notified of chronic problems concerning tardiness. Consequences for tardy procedures will be based on cumulative tardies. Students will begin receiving consequences beginning with their fifth tardy.
The afterschool programs will end today at 4:30 pm. The JV game for today has been cancelled. All athletic practices at CHS will continue as planned. All athletic practices at CMS have been cancelled except for CMS football.
