Attention Seniors and Senior Parents: Scholastic Images, our partner for graduation products, will be collecting senior dues this year. I want our community to know that with the recent events and the senseless act of violence that occurred at Apalachee High School, I feel it is important to reassure our staff, students, families, and the Commerce Community as a whole that we are in constant contact with our local police, local sheriff, and state agencies when we receive any online threats. We have been aware of the many threats that cowards are making towards schools and students, and it is unacceptable. Although we have not found any of the threats credible, I do believe it is vital to our success to investigate each one fully to ensure our most precious resources safety in our buildings. I have requested an extra police presence the last few days, and I am grateful for acting Chief Hicks and his staff for providing many officers inside and outside our schools along with other emergency personnel. Safety is, and always will be, our top priority in Commerce City Schools. I appreciate the outpouring of support from our community, and I know that we will defeat evil by not allowing evil to dictate our focus. CHS Parents, Please don't forget to get your child's immunizations for the 24-25 school year! Call your child's physician or the Commerce Health Department (706-335-3895) to make sure your child is up-to-date or for an appointment. - Nurse Angie

All 2nd year CHS students will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16th. 9th & 11th graders can opt test for an $18 fee. Email jordan.raettig@commercecityschools.org if you would like for your 9th or 11th grader to test. The deadline to opt into testing is Friday, August 23rd.

Parents and Guardians, As part of our school-wide initiatives to support students' overall well-being, we are taking a proactive approach to establish behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Our school will be implementing universal screening (for all students) during Fall and Spring of 2024-2025 school year utilizing the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), completed by students. Commerce City Schools is excited to announce that Commerce Primary and Commerce Elementary School have been awarded a 5 year grant to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students in grades Pre-K through 4th grade at no cost to parents. In addition, Commerce City Schools will be providing basic school supplies for all students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. On behalf of the Commerce City Schools Board of Education, I would like to take this time to inform our parents that at the July board meeting, our Board of Education approved the recommendation to provide the basic school supplies for all children in our school district. We know that the current economic outlook for all families is challenging to navigate at times, and we as a school system want to try and ease the financial burden. We have compiled a list of the basic supplies needed for your student and have placed a group order for all of our students. The supplies will be delivered to each school and distributed to each teacher for their classrooms. We have many local churches and other organizations that will be doing back to school events where they will provide free school supplies, and I would encourage you to attend these events as well. Reminder about SENIOR ADS for the Fall Football Sports Program. The deadline is fast approaching for reserving your senior ad. Ads are full page color, full page black & white, and half page black & white. All seniors in fall sports and the marching band are invited to take out a senior ad. Congratulations to Madelyn Ausborn, Senior Cheerleader, for being selected as one of the top 31 Cheerleaders in Division A-3A. Madelyn will compete with the top cheerleaders in her division at Columbus State University on August 3rd.
