If you’re planning to attend a technical college, you will want to take the ACCUPLACER...
ACCUPLACER Next Generation (for technical colleges)
The ACCUPLACER exam is an untimed, multiple choice test that tests your knowledge in math, reading, and writing. The test helps to identify your strengths and needs in each subject area.
To take the ACCUPLACER, first apply to the technical college. Once you are assigned a student ID, then you may register to take ACCUPLACER.
1. Why is it necessary to take a placement test?
You are applying for college admission. To be successful, you will need to be able to function academically at a certain level in order to be ready for the college work you will be assigned by your instructors. The placement test measures basic skills in Sentence Skills, Reading Comprehension, Arithmetic, and Elementary Algebra. Your results will tell the college whether or not you will need to take learning support courses before going into your credit classes.
2. What is the name of the placement test?
You will be taking the ACCUPLACER, an untimed, computerized placement test. Because the test is untimed, there is no way to predict how long it might take you to complete it, but you should allow yourself at least a 3-hour period of time to be at the testing center. If you are unable to finish before the testing lab closes, you can return for another test session and pick up where you left off.
3. What should I bring to the test?
On your scheduled test date, you should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your test session and bring a picture ID with you. All other test materials will be furnished by the college.
4. Is it possible to receive accommodations on the test if I have a diagnosed disability?
If you believe you are eligible for any type of accommodation on the test due to a documented disability, please notify the Office of Disability Services at the college. Once the testing department has received appropriate documentation of your disability, staff will arrange to provide you with all approved accommodations.

Requesting a transcript
CHS Transcripts: See Mrs. Mathis in Student Services to request a transcript. The cost is $5 each.
CHS Final Transcripts: After graduation, colleges will need a final transcript with a graduation date. Seniors are entitled to one free final transcript. We will send a Google Form for students to tell us where to send their final transcript. Students who need more than one final transcript sent may request additional transcripts for $5 each.
Dual Enrollment Students: Consult your college Registrar’s Office to have your college transcript sent to the institution where you are applying. There is usually a cost for this.
Transfer Credits - Students who have taken AP exams or dual enrollment courses may use these websites to determine how credit may be transferred.
*Note: The receiving institution decides whether or not to accept and how to accept
transfer credits from other institutions. The results for this search reflect courses that have previously been reviewed. The minimum grade shown may be higher for some courses depending on the degree program. For more information, please send your application and transcripts to your selected institution for official evaluation.
