Camille Whalen - CTAE Teacher
Camille Whalen is in her tenth year of teaching Nutrition and Food Science, eight of those years being at Commerce High School. Before coming to her alma mater to teach, she taught for two years at Oglethorpe County High School.
Mrs. Whalen graduated from The University of Georgia in 2012 with a BSFCS in Family and Consumer Sciences Education; she then received her MS degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Tennessee in 2014.
At Commerce High School, Mrs. Whalen also serves as the club sponsor for FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America), is a member of the School Leadership Team and the School Governance Team, and serves as a Senior Class Sponsor and the Social Committee Chair.
Mrs. Whalen currently holds CDL, ServSafe Food Handler and Manager Certifications, ESOL Endorsement and is CPR/First Aid and Fire Safety certified. She was named the 2021 Commerce City Schools STAR Teacher and the 2021 Georgia FACS Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Whalen is also currently serving on the Georgia FCCLA Foundation Board and is the Georgia FCCLA Star Events Coordinator for the state.
Mrs. Whalen and her husband, Cole, have one son, Finn. They reside in Athens.
